Starbucks has released its new summer game, and this time it’s called Starbucks Match Two! This time we have the opportunity to win (earn?) up to 300 stars. These can be redeemed for free drinks, food, or merchandise based on the new Starbucks Rewards structure. You’ll get 5 stars per challenge completed and bonus stars when you match two of the playing pieces. There are twelve pieces for a total of 6 matches. I checked out the challenges this morning when I got the email. I think I’ve figured out a strategy for filling up the whole board in only four visits! I’ll explain my strategy at the end of this post, I hope it’s helpful!

Match Two: The Game

The challenges available in this Starbucks Summer Game should be familiar to anyone who has played a Starbucks game before. The twelve of them are: Lunch Break, Early Riser, Mid-Weekender, Two for Yum, On a Roll, Chill Out, Monday Funday, Press Refresh, Great Morning, Order on the Way, All Day, and Coffee with Friends.

  • Lunch Break requires a purchase of a lunch item (salad, sandwich, or protein box) after 11 a.m. Its match, Early Riser, is one that requires two purchases, both before 9 a.m. on weekdays (Monday through Friday).
  • Mid-Weekender requires one purchase on a weekday and one purchase on the weekend. It matches with Two For Yum–pairing an iced drink with a bakery item after 2 on a weekday.
  • On a Roll (purchasing two days in a row) pairs with Chill Out (purchasing two handcrafted iced coffees or Frappucinos)
  • Monday Funday–no surprise, making a purchase on a Monday–matches with Press Refresh, purchasing two handcrafted iced teas or Refreshers.
  • Purchasing any breakfast sandwich or Sous Vide Egg Bites will satisfy Great Morning’s requirements. You’ll need to order ahead (on the app) two separate days to satisfy it’s match, Order on the Way.
  • Finally, All Day (requiring making a purchase both before and after noon in a single day) is a match to Coffee with Friends (purchasing three drinks in a single order).

300 Stars: The Strategy

You might have noticed that for some, it will be really simple to fulfill multiple requirements in a single order! Others might seem harder, though. I’ve thought up a strategy for myself. (Disclaimer: I purchase drinks for myself and my husband. If you don’t have a second person you might be double-fisting some Starbucks. No judgement here!) If you try my strategy out and it works for you, let me know!

Four Orders to 300 Stars

  1. Sunday before church (Mid-Weekender and On a Roll) order ahead (Order on the Way) a breakfast sandwich (Great Morning), an iced tea or Refresher for myself (Press Refresh), and an iced coffee or Frappucino for my husband (Chill Out).
  2. Before 9 am (Early Riser and All Day) on the next day (On a Roll), a Monday (Monday Funday and Mid-Weekender), order ahead (Order on the Way) an iced tea or Refresher (Press Refresh) for my ride to work.
  3. The same Monday (All Day), after 2 p.m. (Two for Yum), order an iced coffee or Frappucino (Chill Out), a bakery item, and a lunch item (Lunch Break) for a late lunch and dessert.
  4. Before 9 a.m. (Early Riser) order three beverages in one order for myself and two coworkers (Coffee with Friends).
